Marie Joseph Beaches & Islands

Experience island hopping on the Eastern Shore! Lets paddle to a group of larger islands from the fishing village of Marie Joseph. Options include white sand beaches, old homestead foundations and a special place that safely allows us to access to the edge of the open ocean. Absolutely gorgeous.

Lighthouse & Pirate Adventure

On this sea kayak journey we explore Hemloe and Liscombe Islands. We paddle to the legendary site of Captain Kidd's hidden treasure. Another possibility is to take a 20 minute hike and visit the beautiful Liscombe Island lighthouse, see carnivorous plants, and enjoy a Taste of Nova Scotia picnic.

St. Mary's River & Sherbrooke Village

Take in the beautiful images of historic Sherbrooke Village. The colorful buildings and history come alive when seen from the water. We will also tour the Northwest Arm, where herons, waterfowl and seals are often seen. This tour is our back-up tour when wind and weather prevent us from completing other tours.

The Resting Fury

A full day expedition to the 1965 shipwreck of the Fury. The huge hull rests on a shoal off the Gegoggan headland. It is a sight to see as the hull gradually succumbs to the oceans forces. We will get a chance to observe a rare breeding site of the fox sparrow and a secluded, gorgeous white sand beach.

• Beginners are welcome. An introductory lesson is given on all tours covering the boat, basic paddling techniques and safety on the water.
• Safety is our number one priority at Atlantic Explorers, however there are some inherent risks in sea kayaking. Clients participate at their own risk and are required to sign a waiver.
• For youth:
  • Trips are suited for youth 6 years and older.
  • Youth between the ages of 6 and 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and must have a parent or guardian sign a waiver on their behalf.
  • Those 17 or 18 years old must have a parent or guardian sign a waiver on their behalf.
• According to demand, either half-day or full day tours are offered.
• Weather, sea-state, and group ability influence tour itineraries.
• We provide high quality kayaks and all other necessary equipment for our trips. We suggest you bring water shoes, a hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, water, and an extra set of dry warm clothes. A camera and binoculars are nice too.
• All tour groups meet at Liscombe Lodge Marina.
